Australian Tourist Visa Options

There are a number of Australian Tourist visa options available but these are not for all countries around the world. Australia has agreements with certain countries to issue them with a free Australian tourist visa as listed below. These are all the options available in Australia. Note that if you are taking your Thai wife or Thai fiancée back to Australia then apply for the correct Australian Spouse Visa or Australian Fiancée Visa.

 

There are a number of Australian visa options for a Thai national. Below are the most common tourist visas for Australia which is issued in Thailand. The most common would be the Australian Visitors Visa issued in Bangkok. The other visa options you would be best served by speaking to an immigration lawyer in Thailand about them. Australian Visitor visa (subclass 600)

This visa has been discussed elsewhere on this website and you can read it in “Australian Tourist Visa” from Thailand for Thai’s here. This visa is the most common visa issued in Thailand for Thai nationals.  The visa is issued for:

  • – Having a holiday in Australia
  • – Conducting business in Australia
  • – Visiting family
  • – Issued for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months

This Australian tourist visa allows you to stay in Australia for 3 months each time you visit Australia. You can visit Australia as many times as you want during the period of 12 months. This might also be an option for you if you are conducting business in Australia.

Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601)

If you are conducting business from Thailand then this visa would be a good option as you don’t need to apply for a visa before each visit. Speak to an immigration lawyer about this as an option. The visa is issued for:

  • – Having a holiday in Australia
  • – Conducting business in Australia
  • – Visiting family
  • – Issued for 12 months but a multiple entry visa

The eVisitor option is free and you would need to speak to us about this visa for Australia. Note that this is a multiple entry Australian visa which is very handy if you are visiting Australia on a regular bases.

eVisitor (subclass 651)

The visa is the same as the Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) as mentioned above however it can be applied for online and is free. Only certain countries nationals may use this visa. Thailand however is not part of the eVisitor system.
